The heart is the source code

There is a simple, ancient way to know if something is truly for you.

You don't need tarot cards. You don't need a pendulum. You don't need an astrologer. You don't even need to close your eyes in a long meditation.

You need one thing only: to place your hand over your heart and ask.

The hand on the chest

Sit somewhere you feel safe. Breathe deep three times — without counting, without effort.

Place your left hand over your heart. Directly on your chest, in the center. Without pressure. Just the hand.

This hand stays steady. The other rests in your lap, or wherever feels right to you.

Now form the question. Clear. Concrete. "Is this the path for me?". "Should I accept this job?". "Should I go to that gathering?". "Does this person serve me?".

Wait. Feel what comes.

The answer comes in forms you recognize

It may come as a bodily sensation — expansion in the chest (yes), tightness (no). It may come as an inner voice that knows, without words. It may come as involuntary body movement — your body swaying forward and backward (yes), or side to side (no). It may come as your head making a gesture of yes or no, automatically.

Each person has their own body language of sensing. You will discover yours with practice.

The first time may not work. The second one neither. By the tenth, you start to notice the pattern. Within months, you trust.

The heart as source code

There is a metaphor that came to me through feeling, and I share it with you.

The heart is the source code of your essence.

This is not empty poetic metaphor. It is a real description.

Your essence — your soul, your deepest sensing, that which you are beneath all social programming — lives in the center of the chest. From there springs everything that truly defines you. It rises to the head and becomes thought. It descends to the belly and becomes rooting. It extends through the arms and becomes action. It ends in the hands and becomes materialization.

But the source is there, in the chest.

When you consult the head, you receive what you have learned. The rules. The fears. The habits. The story. All of it valid — but all of it filtered by your programming up until today.

When you consult the heart, you receive what you are. Without filter. Without programming. Your current truth.

You already do this sometimes — without knowing

How many times in life have you made a decision "just because"? Without being able to explain? And it turned out to be the right decision?

That was the heart speaking.

How many times have you felt your chest tighten at a tempting offer and thought "I don't know, I don't feel good about this", and went ahead anyway? And later realized you should have listened?

That was the heart warning you.

The conscious practice is just to name what you already do unconsciously. And to trust more.

When you don't trust yet

In the beginning, you'll consult the heart and the head will jump in right after with arguments: "But if I follow that no, I lose this." "But the other person will be hurt." "But it makes rational sense."

All of this is valid. The head also has important information.

But be careful with the balance. Most people give 95% weight to the head and 5% to the heart. Try to invert it to 50/50 for a few months. See what happens.

For me, it took years to trust the heart more. Today at 41, I follow the heart in most important decisions. And I don't regret almost any of them.

Practice this week

Choose one small decision during this week. It could be:

  • Go to that gathering or stay home?
  • Send a message to that person or wait?
  • Accept that extra project or decline?
  • Try again with X or let it go?

Before deciding with the head, place your hand on your heart. Ask. Listen to the bodily answer before the rational one.

Write it down in a notebook (or just in your head): "The heart said X. The head said Y. I went with...". In two weeks, revisit and see which was right.

Slowly, you'll learn your own language.

One last thing

The heart does not speak in words. It gives no reasons. It does not argue with the head.

It simply knows.

If you feel a clear yes — follow.

If you feel a clear no — trust.

If you feel nothing — give it time. Clarity comes when it has to come.

You already know. You only need to remember how to listen.
